Polish women and Poles in Paris have such luxury

For me, these are the third Olympic Games and I already know very well that they are completely different from the World Championships or the European Championships. It is more chaotic – says Paweł Zatorski after the Polish team started the tournament in Paris. – But we can’t complain – adds the experienced libero and reveals what luxury both our teams, men’s and women’s, have.

On Saturday in Paris, Poland beat Egypt 3:0 (25:21, 25:19, 25:13) in the first round of the Olympic tournament . – The key was to show some patience. We knew that sooner or later we would break them – says Zatorski. But we hear more interesting things from Zatorski about other matters than the match with Egypt, which was watched in the Paris hall by, among others, Polish President Andrzej Duda.

The libero says about the entire tournament: – We have to put pressure on every opponent. This is the key to playing at a high level with every possible opponent. I believe that the guys will feel very good on the serve. We have already shown a sample of our capabilities. There was a bit of balance between strong and subdued serve and I am glad that thanks to this we were able to show strength in the block and we managed to save a few times.

The first match in Paris didn’t make much of an impression on Zatorski . “Because for me these are already the third Olympics and I already know that they are completely different from the World Championships or the European Championships,” he explains. “It’s more chaotic, but we can’t complain because all the teams have the same thing, and we have the luxury of having our own training hall, which we share with the girls. So we have the luxury of not training at eight in the morning or ten in the evening,” says Zatorski.

It’s about the hall in Cergy. It’s less than 30 km from Paris. The Polish Volleyball Federation has reserved the facility for both of our Olympic teams. As we hear, after leaving the Olympic Village, the drive there is no longer than 45 minutes. And sometimes it’s possible to get there in less than 20 minutes.

In Cergy both of our teams train when the hours of classes proposed by the organizers in the match hall and training halls in Paris are not convenient. Let’s hope that this investment by the PZPS will pay off in successes in the Olympic tournament for both women and men.

Will Polish volleyball players win a medal at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games?
